Moving to a new domain and platform

Today I bought the new domain name and set up a wordpress installation at  http://www.energeticandproductive.com

I will continue blogging there and gradually move the best content from this site under a few weeks. If you liked this site, I hope you'll enjoy the new one as well. By reasons outlined in the previous post, the new name will suit my topics better, and using WordPress will also increase the quality significantly, both for me as a writer and for all you readers.

Changing the focus of the blog slightly

When I started writing the handbook posts a couple of years ago, I think I considered the "lose your brain fog" topic something rather narrow where I could stay on top of things and blog sporadically when any new research surfaced. Now with more experience in this field, I feel the name and focus is wrong for a set of reasons:

 1. The name brain fog can imply certain medical conditions that haven't necessarily applied to me and therefore talking about recovery from it can be misleading. This would not apply if the name and topic instead was from a positive and more wide standpoint (such as "How to keep your brain sharp").

2. Now recovered, I am a high-energy person again but with a rather short attention span to work on narrow topics for several months or years. Thus it would suit me better to be able to write about a more wide set of topics,  that could still be related, such as how to stay energetic, clear-minded and productive, from an entrepreneur's perspective. You can note I have already changed the tagline to this.

3. Widening the topic slightly as above would allow me to get a bit more personal since everything I write about doesn't have to measure up against science at all times - I could interleave more writing about my personal challenges in business or exercise for example.

I would then use categories as follows: have a category for recovering from slow brain / fatigue symptoms, and also categories for things such as productivity, food and exercise. The long posts I have right now about for example food to eat to recover, could be in both categories. This may require me to switch to wordpress.

So, because of this, I'm very open to any suggestions regarding a new title and possibly domain name! Thanks!

Low-carb pancaces

For the most part I don't look back a lot to the kinds of foods I used to eat before switching to a more low-carb, no-dairy (except butter) diet. However, recently I stumbled upon this cute simple pancace recipe from Martina (Swedish page) and it's really nice. Ingredients:

3 eggs
1 tablespoon of coconut powder
1 tablespoon of coconut cream
1 tablespoon of ghee or butter

Very nice because this also works as a desert in case of some special occation. Thank you Martina! They can be served with butter and/or a handful of berries.

Inflammation and ties to brain fog

I started writing a few of the chapters in the recovery handbook a couple of years ago and now when finally publishing it, I've been doing some research on new viewpoints from science. One thing that stands out is how chronic inflammation is now thought to be a common cause for brain fog, and it becomes apparent why there is a connection between brain fog and inflammation-related diseases such as celiac disease, and also why some conditions with slightly more vague symptom lists such as chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia can improve when switching to a diet of less inflammatory food.


A 2014 Stanford study found brain abnormalities, of which some were likely caused by inflammation, in chronic fatigue patients. Other studies show similar results.

Hence I have updated some of the recommendations in the exercise and food parts to be more up to date. For example when it comes to brain fog related to chronic fatigue, cardio may not be a good idea because it keeps your body worn out, always trying to recover but never getting there. In upcoming posts I will expand further on chronic fatigue and adrenal burnout, because I want to learn more about these subjects, and because I think my own problems may have been related to some form of burnout or chronic inflammation.

Enjoying the summer

This summer I'm able to take some time off, and I really love being able to devote some time to experimenting with subjects related to health optimization. I've found the time to read up on inspiring blogs about nutrition and exercise, and to try things out. So far I've experimented with a period of strict low carb, high fat diet, and also with high intensity training. The food feels really good and the training is really handy because you spend less time than with traditional cardio. High intensity training also has some other benefits, like that it doesn't spike cortisol as much, instead it raises testosterone and growth hormones. I'm gonna write more about that on the exercise page later.

Juicing inspiration

I recently watched Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead after finding out about Joe Cross through London Real. It made me really eager to try juicing, but I think I'll wait a while with bying a juicer so I can buy a really good one. Anyway really inspiring with some concrete pictures of how lifestyle affects your health and well-being! Also check out the sequel.

I actually found Fat, Sick and Nearly dead on Youtube, here with Spanish (I think?) subtitles unfortunately. If you can't stand them I guess you'll find it on Netflix as well.

Finally publishing this site!

Finally I'm publishing this site after owning the domain and sporadically working on some drafts for more than a year, not really prioritizing this project enought to clean up the site and setting everything up properly until now.

So, hope you enjoy it, more articles will follow!
